The Joggle Factory

The What: Designs and builds authentic and classically-styled joggling boards for your patio, garden, porch or even indoors. Custom-built using sustainable, locally harvested lumber. A little history: This old-fashioned piece of furniture was brought to America in the early 1800’s by Scotch immigrants settling in the South. The story of their role in 19th century Southern courtship has the right touch of charm to make anyone want one. Traditionally, the gentleman would sit near one rocker end, the lady near to the other, and they would gently “joggle” their way toward one another in the middle. Should their hips touch in the middle, they would live happily ever after. It is said that there has never been an unmarried daughter with a joggling board on the porch.
