SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — The Bobcats are taking learning to the sky. Texas State University will offer a new Aviation Science degree program through a partnership with Coast Flight Training, the City of San Marcos and Texas Aviation partners, according to a Texas State news release. Part of a garbage truck got stuck in the wing of an airplane at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro Friday morning. A passenger told WFMY News 2's Chad Silber that the plane was in the process of boarding when the truck hit it, causing the plane to shake. Although Oklahoma already leads the nation in the number of high schools offering aerospace programs, the state will continue offering an air-industry curriculum for the third year in a row. First, white paint reflects sunlight, keeping the plane interior cooler on boiling hot days when the aircraft is roasting on the tarmac, according to the auto media outlet MotorBiscuit. Then, there’s the issue of weight — and the light-hued varnish weighs less than dark-colored paint. The outlet also reported that white paint shows wears and tears more than any other color.
