LAFAYETTE Darrell W. Lavendure, 69, of Lafay- ette, Indiana, born on February 19, 1951, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 8th sur- rounded by his loved ones following a brief illness. Darrell worked over 25 years repairing appli- ances for Refridgeration and later worked maintenance for Pheasant Run Apartments before becoming disabled from a heart condition.

He enjoyed cooking, being outside, scrapping metal, and also fishing. He was always available for his family and there are many fond memories of time spent enjoying the meals he would cook, his sense of humor, and his love of playing the lottery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Marjorie (Phillips) Lavendure as well as his brother, Dennis Lavendure. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Katherine (Keffer) Lavendure; brother, Chuck (Linda) Lavendure; nieces, Tammy and Kimberly Lavendure; son, Larry (April) East; step-children, Donald (Debbie) Hand, Susie Abrams, Chris (Jim) Vinciguerra, all of Lafayette, IN, and Delores (Allen) Williams of Princeton WV. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Cassi-Jo, Chuck, Brianna, Christopher, and Kimberly East, Travis (Lisa) and David (Anabel) Walters, Casey and Abbie Hand, Steven Kessler, Mike Vinciguerra, Tina (Chris) Shepard, and Matthew (Chrystal) and Jason (Britni) Williams and several great-grandchildren in Florida Iowa, and Lafayette, IN.

Darrell never met a stranger and had several wonderful friends. In addition to these wonderful friends who all have great memories of him, he shared a close bond with his little buddy and great grandson, Hunter (A.K.A Booger Butt) Walters and his grandson, Travis Walters. A Service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 8 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Reggie Alderman officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 to 8 p.m.

You may leave condolences and memories of Darrell online at www.fisherfuneralchapel.com Darrell Wayne Lavendure WEST LAFAYETTE Thelma Josephine Bice was born on January 14, 1922 and died at home on Saturday November 7, 2020 at age 98.

She was born at her home near Crothersville, IN to Anna Morgan Thomas and Logan Thomas. Thelma married Francis Leonard Bice in Madison, Wisconsin on June 20, 1943 and they set up their home on a farm just outside of Oxford, Indiana. Thelma graduated from Gilboa High School in 1940 and then attended two years of college study- ing to be an English teacher. During her long life she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, enrolling and scheduling swimming classes in Benton County; she was associated with the Legion post 11 and was heavily involved in the Senior Bowling Leagues in Lafayette, Indiana. In 1991 she became a volunteer hostess at a campground in the Roosevelt National Forrest and spent the next 10 summers enjoying the beauty of the Colorado mountains.

Her employment opportunities during her lifetime included working as a cook at Oxford School; a cook at the Southside restaurant in Oxford; farming with her husband; and their final adventure together was owning and operating the Lakes and Campgrounds near Mulberry, IN. She enjoyed playing Euchre, Pinochle, and all types of board games with her family. She was an avid Bingo at various places in Lafayette. Her survivors include her children: Lin (wife Jane) Bice, Cindy (husband Lon) Garriott; Marcia (husband George deceased) Hawkins; daughter in-law Mary Jo Bice (Sherm); 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, a son, Sherman Bice; two daugh- ters Priscilla Bice-Teso and Infant Kathy Lou Bice; 2 brothers, Edward and Ronald Thomas; sister Helen Osborn; and granddaughter Paige Burdine.

Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford from 10:30 AM until the service at 11:30 AM Saturday Nov. 14, Pastor Craig Scott offi- ciating. The interment will follow at Mt. Gilboa Cemetery. Thelma made a request that in lieu of flowers and memorial contributions that you should plant a tree.

Wheelock, 77, of Kentland, IN died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Dick was born October 4, 1943 at CampStoneman in Pittsburg, California to Willis L.

Wheelock and Lucille D. (Brown) Wheelock. He was a 1961 grad- uate of Kentland High School and earned a B.S. in Education from St. College in December 1968, with a major in Physical Education and a minor in German Language.

On April 25, 1969, he married Mary Jo Humston at Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church in Goodland, IN. Dick played football for the University of South Dakota at Vermillion in 1961. He was the starting left-fielder for the St. Pumas ICC co-con- ference champions in 1966.

After graduation in December 1968, he began his teaching and coaching career at South Newton High School, coaching freshman football, junior high basketball, and junior varsity baseball. He left teaching after one year to manage Humston Chevrolet in Goodland. The dealership sold in 1974 and Dick then went to work for Conrail in Chicago for four years. In 1978, Super Crost seeds hired him as Inventory Control Distribution Supervisor, he moved to the Customer Service Department in 1982, and he began his career in Sales Management in 1987, where he worked for the next 20 years. In 2007, he retired from the seed business.

That same year, he went to work as Bailiff for the Newton County Superior Court. He worked for the Newton County Superior Court through September 2020 when he In retirement, he worked part-time as the Bailiff for the Newton County Circuit Court. Dick was an active IHSAA varsity official for football, softball, and basket- ball since 1989. During that time, he was fortunate enough to umpire two State Softball Championship games (2003 2008), one Indiana All-Star Softball game (2008), and was Umpire of the Year in 2012. He also officiated in the class 4A Football Championship game in Lucas Oil Stadium in 2014.

Dick was an active member of the Western Indiana Officials Association and the IHSAA football officials observer group. Dick is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) Wheelock of Maricopa, AZ; Tony Wheelock of Lafayette, IN; Mark (Katie) Wheelock of Indianapolis, IN; two students who lived with him and Mary Jo for their final years of high school, Nancy (Zussman) Cedarquist and Randall Barten, as well as 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his brothers Tom (Janet) Whee- lock and Patrick (Mary Beth) Wheelock, and sister Sally (Stan) Walkup, all of Kentland, IN. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Lucille (Brown) Wheelock, daughter Jacqueline (Jackie) Wheelock, and Sister Grace (Whee- lock) Schoonveld. Dick had two passions he enjoyed in his life: his children grandchil- dren and officiating high school athletics. Share memories and condolences online at www.clapperfuneralservices. com. Richard (Dick) V. Wheelock ASHVILLE, OH Catherine Lee Cromley Conner 81 of Ashville, OH passed away on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020 at Pickaway Manor in Circleville.

She was born on Sept. 25, 1939 in Circleville, OH to the late Leroy Hewitt and Martha (Eakin) Cromley. Catherine was a graduate of Ashville-Harrison H.S. and attended The Ohio State University. While going to college she worked at Battelle Institute and O.S.U.

Growing up on the family farm as sixth generation, she showed Angus cattle and sheep at many local and state fairs. While attending The Ohio State University, she met Thomas Conner, DVM; after marriage they moved to Remington, IN where they raised their family. Both children were active in 4-H and FFA. During this time Katie started her own business as an Interior Designer which she operated for many years in many states. Katie was an active board member of Jasper County Fair Board and Tippecanoe Girl Scout Council.

In the early she was appointed by former Gov. Bob Orr as Director to the Indiana State Fair Board. Later they moved to Indianapolis. love for agriculture, livestock and youth continued to grow resulting in her acceptance from The Commonwealth of Kentucky the Commissioner of Award in 1986. Katie was a Director of Lead Line and various youth contests for may years at the North American Livestock Exposition.

She enjoyed traveling and oil painting in Deruta, Italy, with Susie Astleford. She also enjoyed decorating, sewing, arranging cut flowers, and farm projects. One of the many goals she achieved was soloing in flying a private airplane. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Thomas F. Conner; son Thomas Lynn (Sonja) Conner of Ashville and daughter, Ann Elizabeth Conner of Winnebago, IL; grandchildren, Thomas (Jennifer) Lowther, Kayla Conner, Seanna Conner, Jared (Rachel) Conner; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Sarah (Chris) Johnson of DE, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thurs. Nov. 12th at the family farm 15304 Cromley Rd. Ashville with a Graveside Service 1:30 p.m.

on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020 at the farm. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are encouraged. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Madison Livewires 4-H Club, Mary Hines, 5001 Miller Rd. Ashville OH 43103.
