Roadways Impacted Near Bradley Point Subdivision Due to Ogeechee River Flooding

River Flood Response Map

UPDATE (Aug. 13, 2 p.m.): As Ogeechee River flood waters continue to recede, the City of Savannah’s Transportation Services Department is assessing roadways in the Bradley Point, Villages of Vallambrosa and Teal Lake areas to allow for reopening as quickly and safely as possible.

Sweeper and asphalt operations have been activated as crews search for sinkholes and potholes in previously flooded roadways. The intersection of Grayson and Dunnoman remains closed due to over 12 inches of flood water. Bradley Blvd. remains closed as repairs begin on the road. City crews anticipate the road may be passable later Tuesday afternoon.

Reopening of roadways will depend heavily on the continued water recession levels experienced on Monday and Tuesday and an assessment of roadway conditions. The temporary road between Bradley Boulevard and Waycross Road continues to operate and will remain open as long as it is needed. The road may be closed periodically for regular maintenance due to heavy use.

Residents are encouraged to exercise extreme caution on reopened roads as the severe flooding could have impacted the underlying ground and cause potentially undetected roadway failures. Transportation Services is actively assessing and repairing all flooded roadways as the water recedes to ensure safety.

There will be no sanitation service for residents in Bradley Point, Bradley Point South, Teal Lake, and Villages of Vallambrosa on Tuesday. Regular service will resume once streets are cleared. Garbage overflow can be placed in recycling carts and the two will be collected together.

The American Red Cross, Salvation Army and City staff continue to operate in the area providing hot meals. The City is assisting food truck vendors who are also offering free meals to residents.

If residents wish to donate to flood victims, they are encouraged to send all donations to Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. Donations can include any item useful for flood victims, not just food items. The items will be sorted at Second Harvest and delivered to Compassion Church on Henderson, which has been activated as a Resource Center by the Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA).

The Resource Center will be open on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
